Your gateway to the east and beyond: Thomson-East Coast Line

Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) would offer improved connectivity to northern, central, and eastern parts of Singapore, paralleling its operation with North-South Link (NSL). It will connect with the North-South Line (NSL), giving North-South Corridor commuters an alternate, faster way of getting into the centre.

The TEL is intended to serve areas that are not adjacent to any stations on the East-West Line, and relieve congestion at existing stations.

Extending to a 43-km long, the TEL will feature 31 new stations, with seven feeder stations connecting with other MRT lines; East-West Line, North-South Line, North-East Line, Circle Line, Downtown Line, and future Cross Island Line.

TEL will add 32 new stations to the Singapore MRT network, connecting North, South, and East of Singapore with the Central Business District (CBD). More than 240,000 households across Singapore located within 10 minutes walking distance from the 11 new stations will benefit from TEL3 when it opens later this year.

The TEL 1 and TEL 2 lines will bring benefits to 100,000 residents, with 100 of them now located within a 10-minute walk from one of nine stations.

Four of them are transfer stations, which together link TEL commuters with all existing MRT lines. The other 11 stations are Stephens, Napier, Orchard Boulevard, Orchard, Great World, Havelock, Outram Park, Maxwell, Shenton Way, Marina Bay, and Gardens by the Bay.

Stevens Station is connected to the Downtown line, connecting Bukit Timah to the CBD, Orchard Station is connected to the North-South Line, Outram Park is connected to the East-West and North-East lines, and Marina Bay is connected to Circle and North-South lines.

Singapore’s sixth rail line, the Outram Park Station — also near the TEL Maxwell Station – links to an existing Interchange Station, connecting passengers with the East West Line (EWL) and the North East Line (NEL).

The new Marina Bay TEL station would join the existing interchange station, connecting both the NSL and Circle Line (CCL); while Shenton Way TEL station, located on Shenton Way and Marina View, would have branches on Asia Square Tower 2 and Marina One West Tower. The addition of the Orchard MRT stations would further improve convenience for living in One Shenton.
